How to submit an article or story idea to mycalabar.com
We are always happy to hear from professional journalists seeking to contribute to mycalabar.com.
While we only give assignments to established contributors, occasionally, we accept original content from qualified freelancers.
What are we looking for?
News and culture events are typically covered in-house, but we are always looking for fresh feature articles and longer reported pieces that align with our readers’ interests. These include interviews with people from the expat communities, a deep dive into cultural rifts and the challenges of living in Calabar, or first-person essays and op-eds sharing personal experiences.
How to submit?
- Please send your developed story pitch (you may send multiple pitches) or a completed article to be considered on speculation to editor@mycalabar.com.
- Unless you are applying for an advertised permanent position with us do not send your CV. A short email introduction that summarizes your past experience and links to your work is sufficient. If you do not hear back from us within 2 weeks, your story was not for us and you may pitch again.
Due to the high volume of inquiries received, we can’t respond to each individual submission. If you submit a pitch and do not hear back from us within 2 weeks, your story was not for us and you may submit again.
