We are the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UCTH), a federal tertiary referral and teaching hospital established to deliver specialist clinical care while supporting the training of medical students, resident doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals across multiple disciplines.
We combine patient-centred service delivery with structured supervision and continuous learning so every clinic, ward round, and procedure strengthens both outcomes and competence.
We provide comprehensive hospital services across internal medicine, surgery, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, orthopaedics/traumatology, anaesthesiology, psychiatry, dentistry and maxillofacial care, ENT, ophthalmology, radiology, laboratory and pathology services, and pharmacy support designed to keep care coordinated from diagnosis to recovery.
We run consultant-led teams and service units that support both routine and complex cases, including urgent presentations.
We operate with round-the-clock emergency care and supportive services, while maintaining scheduled outpatient clinics during the work week to help patients access specialist review, investigations, and follow-up in a structured way.
We also contribute to research and evidence-based practice, including infection and tropical disease initiatives, and we continuously improve service channels for communication, responsiveness, and continuity of care.
